The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh has a large anaesthetic department that has close links with the University of Edinburgh Department of Anaesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine. As a result, a range of opportunities exist for teaching, research and quality improvement work.

Edinburgh is a fantastic, vibrant city with a wide range of cultural and leisure pursuits available. Out with the centre, there is easy access to the beautiful surrounding countryside and coastline.
