- Organising and undertaking technical testing to ensure test regimes and workload are met, comply with UKAS and/or Company systems.
- Support the investigation; and resolve quality issues, advise operations and Site Teams of results and potentially suggest actions for improvement
- Test procedures – To ensure testing procedures are fully documented, understood and communicated to comply with UKAS standard where required and have the correct equipment available in calibration
- Sampling & Testing – To carry out sampling and testing in line with contract requirements
- Ensuring the quality of the materials is always monitored for both internal and external customers.
- At times, visiting other Tarmac sites to carry out various sampling and testing duties
- Always adhering to company Health and Safety procedures.
- Be hard working and self-motivated.
- Have excellent communication skills and be able to liaise with stakeholders of varying seniority levels.
- Have an understanding of civil engineering materials, materials testing and site construction operations
- Be accurate in their work and demonstrate strong attention to detail.
- Can identify potential risks/issues (training will be provided)
- Be able to work independently and to collaborate as part of a wider team.
- Possess a good numerical aptitude (handling calculations/interpreting results)

This role will also support Tarmac Cricklade Asphalt Plant, Swindon. The role of Materials Testing Technician is working on site as part of a team that supports operations. This role has a company van provided and is commutable from Westonsuper-Mare, Bristol, Chepstow, Newport, Cardiff, Gloucester, Swindon, Chippenham and the surrounding areas.

Reporting directly to the Technical Supervisor, the role of Materials Testing Technician will be responsible for:
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for the role of Materials Testing Technician will have laboratory experience gained within the construction sector and will possess knowledge of aggregate and / or asphalt testing and production. We do, however, welcome applications from candidates without experience as full training will be provided.
This Technician role is not a typical 'lab coat' laboratory type of role – it is a vital hands-on site-based role , wearing PPE and working in a small team closely supporting our operational concrete plants and customer sites.
Suitable candidates for the role of Materials Testing Technician will:
ESSENTIAL - Full UK manual car driving license with no more than 6 points as you will have a company vehicle for business use for this role
