Introduction

The Marketing Academy Foundation is delighted to share an apprentice role at Hotel Chocolat as a
PR & Communications Assistant.

If you are organised, curious, interested in popular culture and able to express yourself clearly, both verbally and in writing, this is the role for you.


Role Overview


Working closely with the Senior Communications Manager, PR & Influencer Manager and Internal Comms & Engagement Manager, the PR & Comms Assistant will support the delivery of a range of PR activities, internal communications and events.


Job role and responsibilities

  • Be the first point of contact for the Hotel Chocolat Press office and manage the daytoday enquiries for the inbox
  • Write engaging, on brand press releases that will inspire and encourage press to write about us
  • Work with the design team to curate and send out brand relevant media and influencer drops
  • Manage press and influencer product gifting
  • Pull together regular, up to date media lists, targeting contacts and outlets in line with HC values
  • Obtain and evaluate press cuttings daily, monitoring HC presence in the media constantly
  • Support at press events alongside the PR and Influencer Manager including the Christmas Showcase
  • Maintain the image library, send out images to press and follow up accordingly, understanding the importance of rapid response time
  • Build and maintain relationships with press, researching new contacts and seeking opportunities for press coverage
  • Ensure that PR activity is aligned to the latest product range, timing and stock availability
  • Work with the Social Media team to utilise our PR coverage on social media too, encouraging further dialogue and drive to purchase
  • Measure product placement opportunities against sales and web trends
  • Put together regular PR reports with detailed graphs and clear analysis of coverage and trends
  • Support with the administration and posting of content onto our internal comms platforms the Baton and the Pod ensuring that it is delivered on time and to the plan
  • Write engaging internal comms messaging for all of our platforms and support with the creation of internal comms materials such as posters and videos as required
  • Support with internal engagement activities such as events, business briefings, charity partnerships and engagement surveys

Skills & qualifications

  • Outstanding writing skills ability to turn around strong and engaging copy quickly and easily
  • Confident and able to use own initiative to get tasks done
  • Confident in using a variety of social media platforms (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+, Instagram and TikTok) and formulating reports based upon these
  • Solid understanding of online metrics and strong analytical skills to create innovative solutions

Education level
This role is open to grads and non-grads.

But it is NOT open to people with a degree in marketing/advertising/media/PR/event marketing or Business Studies as it is a Level3/4 Apprenticeship.

Location, salary etc.
Hotel Chocolat is based in Royston, Hertfordshire.

You will be expected to come to the Royston office 1 day a week and our subsidiary office in Whitechapel, London 2 days a week.

You will have the freedom to work from home 2 days a week.

The role is for 15 months, and the salary is £21,749 to £24,600
