- Responsible for the management of all aspects of the navigational safety, security (land based and marine) and environmental protection.
- Acting under both statutory and delegated powers, on behalf of the HPC Harbour Authority (HPCHA), as the decision maker in relation to harbour operation short term problems and issues.
- Support and advise the Duty Holder to ensure compliance with the Port Marine Safety Code (PMSC).
- Ensure co-ordination of Jetty activities with HPC Emergency Arrangements and Security Procedures.
- Ensuring effective liaison with adjacent harbours, other navigational stakeholders such as the Maritime & Coastguard Agency, Trinity House, the Royal Yachting Association, the Hydrographic Office and the Ministry of Defence at the Lilstock Firing Range.
- To represent HPCHA at relevant industry forums, to support and, where required, lead the HPC response on media and community relations and communications in relation to marine matters.

Hinkley Point C is a statutory harbour authority, set up specifically to facilitate the import of materials to be used in the construction of the Hinkley Point C Nuclear Power Station (HPC).
The jetty operates based on construction demands as well as the demands of the environment, sitting within the 3rd highest tidal range in the world.
The Harbour Master is the key individual to ensure safe navigation and compliance with the Port Marine Safety Code.The Hinkley Point C Harbour Master and their team is expected to operate as subject matter experts in relation to wider marine operations related with the construction of Hinkley Point C.
