The
Position


The purpose of the role is to support SCF's ambition of supporting cricket clubs across Surrey to grow the recreational game at all levels across the county.


Working as part of a team of 3 Club Support Officers you will be responsible for identifying and maximising opportunities for significant participation growth in clubs across Surrey, developing strong relationships with all the clubs you have responsibility for.

You will provide administrative support to the Surrey Championship and will also take county wide responsibility for Grounds Management and Officiating, leading the SCF's delivery in these areas.


Ultimately you will play a key role in helping to deliver the outcomes of ECB's Inspiring Generations strategy, supporting the club network to significantly increase the number of people who believe 'Cricket is a Game for Me.

What you'll do


Work with the Assistant Director of Cricket Participation, the SCF team, ECB, and other partners to produce and deliver cohesive and effective participation & growth strategies and operational plans, with a specific focus on Club Support, Officiating, and Grounds Management.

Club Support

  • Work across five boroughs to provide a comprehensive offer of club support to approximately 60 clubs in Surrey.
  • Develop close working relationships with all clubs, identifying and working with specific clubs on an annual basis to deliver specific growth and retention objectives.
  • Work with the Participation Manager/Administrator (Schools/Kids) to deliver the Chance to Shine, All Stars and Dynamos Cricket programmes with clubs in your area of responsibility to support the delivery of their growth ambitions.
  • Drive the adoption of ECB's Safe Hands Management System to ensure all clubs deliver on safeguarding compliance.
  • Work with clubs on a range of facilities development programmes and work closely with Local Authorities to ensure that playing facilities are adequately supported through Playing Pitch Strategies.
  • Utilise ECB, SCF and other funding opportunities to help clubs achieve their 5year visions for development as appropriate.
  • Work with the lead Officer for Women & Girls to ensure that specific outcomes from the Women & Girls Action Plan are delivered in your boroughs, as necessary.
  • Work with the lead Officer for Disability Cricket to ensure that specific outcomes from the Disability Action Plan are delivered in your boroughs, as necessary.
  • Work with the lead Officer for Diverse Communities to ensure that specific outcomes from the Diverse Communities Action Plan are delivered in your boroughs, as necessary.
Officiating

  • Be county lead Officer responsible for the delivery of the county's officiating programme, working closely with the Surrey Association of Cricket Officials.
  • Work with the Assistant Director of Cricket Participation and Surrey ACO on the delivery of the workforce development plan, including the implementation, promotion and delivery of a wide variety of training courses.
  • Develop and implement new initiatives to encourage more people to take up scoring and umpiring.
Grounds Management

  • Work with our team of County Pitch Advisors, and Club Support Officers to deliver the SCF Fine Turf Development Programme.
  • Complete administration for the SCF Machinery Hire programme as required throughout the year.
  • Establish and implement a training pathway which encourages more people to get involved with grounds maintenance, including administration of a bursary scheme.
  • Liaise and work with the Regional Pitch Advisor from the GMA to keep up to speed with new developments, as well as to run face to face training sessions annually.
Surrey Championship

  • Perform all administrative duties as required by the Surrey Championship Executive Committee, to include:
  • Attendance and minute taking at executive and other meetings.
  • Helping arrange and organise annual events such as the balls collection day, awards evening and T20 competition.
  • Administration of the Surrey Championship grants fund.
  • Any other administration as directed by the executive committee.
Other

  • Responsible for the ongoing monitoring and reporting of all aspects of your work programmes to include completion of monthly activity reports for submission to relevant SCF Committees.
  • Any other responsibilities as directed by the line manager.

The Person

Experience:


  • Experience of working in club development in a sport club setting in a paid or voluntary role
  • Experience of programme/project management
  • Experience in using Play Cricket (Desirable)
