Research Assistant in Heterogeneous Catalysis

Cardiff School of Chemistry

Cardiff University
We seek to recruit an enthusiastic, highly motivated scientist with proven intellectual and technical abilities to work on a one year project on Heterogeneous Catalysis for the Direct Synthesis of Hydrogen Peroxide part-funded by the Max Planck Centre on the Fundamentals of Heterogeneous Catalysts (Funcat)

  • This collaborative project focuses on the preparation of supported tailormade mixed metal alloy nanoparticles with controlled morphology, particle size and composition and their use as catalysts in the direct synthesis of hydrogen peroxide and use of this hydrogen peroxide in situ for use by chemocatalysts or enzymes. The emphasis of the research at Cardiff will be concerned with carrying out the catalytic reactions and using the results to design improved catalysts. Experience in liquid phase heterogeneously catalysed reactions for the synthesis of hydrogen peroxide is highly desirable.
