    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent senior psychologist role within the Acute and Crisis Pathway of Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, based in Antelope House Southampton.

    We are seeking candidates with skills in working with acute and chronic mental health difficulties and experience of service and staff development.

    We have an exciting opportunity for a psychologist with enthusiasm and a commitment to working within the area of acute care to provide specialist psychological input and leadership to this service.

    The role is a combination of direct clinical work, team working and service development.

    The successful post-holder will take a lead in developing, organising and delivering Acute psychology services based in Antelope House.

    They will provide leadership, consultation, supervision and support to psychologists and other members of the clinical team who provide psychologically based care and treatment within this setting.

    The post-holder will be professionally and line managed by the Acute Care Psychology Lead, Consultant Psychologist who is also based at Antelope House.

    We have good supervision structures and an excellent track record of CPD, as well as strong links with Southampton University, particularly with the Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology and the MSc/Diploma in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Severe and Enduring Mental Health Problems.

    The post-holder should have experience of working with people with acute, severe and chronic mental health problems, where psychosis and severe interpersonal difficulties are part of their presentation.

    We are looking for someone who has well developed interpersonal, clinical, quality improvement and research skills, with the resilience needed to thrive in a busy city-based NHS service.

    Working alongside colleagues, the post-holder will offer specialist psychological assessments, neuro-cognitive assessments, formulations, brief interventions and will be familiar with and contribute to further developing the Comprehend, Cope & Connect (CCC) Programme, which is a psychology led intervention enabling multi-professional colleagues to offer psychological interventions to patients who are in crisis or in the acute phase of their mental illness.

    These interventions will lead to informed collaborative care planning.

    As a senior clinician, with substantial clinical experience and post-qualification training, the post-holder will provide a high level of expertise within the Acute Care Service with a predominant focus on the 2 Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (PICU) although may be expected to support the male and female wards and staff as well as CRHTT and rehab staff where necessary.

    Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical or forensic psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies.

    Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Practitioner Psychologist
    Formal training in supervision of other psychologists or equivalent experience.
