CMA is working with a Higher Education organisation based in Portsmouth, Hampshire, in the recruitment for a Financial Controller to undertake responsibility for the production of the management accounts and financial statements.


What will the Financial Controller role involve?
Reporting to the Finance Director, the key responsibilities of the Financial Controller position will include:

  • Preparation of the monthly management accounts pack;
  • Weekly and monthly cashflow management including regular reforecasting;
  • Act as Finance Business Partner to key budget holders throughout the business, supporting them in the production of departmental budgets and monthly monitoring of performance;
  • Support the Finance Director in the production of the annual financial statements and external audit;
  • Review of internal controls and processes, recommending and implementing effective change where necessary.
  • Applicants for the position will hold a full accountancy qualification with previous experience of working within a similar position and demonstrable management accounting and finance business partnering skills;
  • Excellent communication, analytical and planning skills will be essential to undertake the role successfully as will the ability to effectively support key nonfinance stakeholders in understanding financial information;
  • Previous experience of working within a Higher Educational organisation would be highly advantageous.
