    Senior Electrical Design Engineer – EV Battery, Motorsport, Northamptonshire, £NEG circa + Benefits

    Unknown Resourcing are currently seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer / Senior Electronics Design Engineer to join our leading Automotive client based in Northamptonshire. This is an exciting opportunity working as a Senior Electrical Design Engineer / Senior Electronics Design Engineer n cutting edge technology in electrification projects in future transportation.

    Senior Electrical Design Engineer – Responsibilities:

    Support and be responsible for Trackside, test house or external facility based commissioning. Specifically supporting the motorsport events would require scheduled weekend working.

    Direct above tasks through the E&E group and enable project planning via better technical understanding.

    Take initial Electrical / Performance studies from either Business Development or Systems groups to working schemes via initial component and system selection in order to meet performance requirements.

    Assist Head of Electrical & Electronics (HEE) in ensuring correct technical decisions taken by EEG staff in their design duties and ensure systems utilized meet the technical demands of EEG activities.

    Ensure drawing approval meets required standards, done in an efficient and timely manner.

    Support Business Development on appropriate project quotations and plan proposals via the Systems Group.

    Be responsible for the quality of looms, PCB's and solutions delivered from the E&E group via end of line testing and documentation.

    Consider the health and safety, environmental and energy impact of all activities.

    Support the Company's compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018, following policy and best practice.

    Senior Electrical Design Engineer Requirements:

    A degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical and or Electronic engineering.

    Demonstrable experience within Motorsport and / or Automotive Electrical Engineering.

    Wide understanding of sub-systems used on performance hybrid vehicles such as Electric machines and Inverters (including control parameters and techniques), LV (12-60v) and HV V) Battery systems, HV junctions, 12V power management, ECU programming (calibration only) and Data logging techniques.

    Experience in carrying out Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work documents and supervising other employees in following the correct procedures.

    Ability to commission complex electrical systems either developed or inherited from existing systems.

    Experience of traveling to customer facilities and commissioning sessions. Being the company representative for vehicle and system operations in the field.

    Able to fault-find under pressurized conditions (at a test or event or in front of/with customers).

    Ability to acutely summarize issues and activity back to base in order to better expose issues internally quickly and gain correct support.

    Experience in the following specific area will also be beneficial but not essential:

    Hazardous Voltage SAP training.
