    Full-time 37.Whittington Health is situated in North London and delivers health care to the residence of Haringey and Islington both in the community and through the Whittington Hospital.

    The Physiotherapy service covers a broad range of services and staff on the band 5 physiotherapy rotations have the chance to gain experience in adult and paediatric community physiotherapy, musculo-skeletal out-patients, acute hospital Care of Older People wards, Intensive Care Unit, acute Surgical, Medical and Orthopaedic wards.

    This rotation also includes an orthopaedic rotation at the new elective orthopaedic hub at UCLH.

    To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work including the management of patients in own caseload and to seek advice from senior staff as appropriate.

    Respiratory, Neurological, Musculoskeletal manual therapy, Balance and Falls or Neurodevelopment Paediatrics etc.
    To formulate and deliver an individual physiotherapy treatment programme based on a sound knowledge of evidence-based practice.

    To formulate goals/ clinical objectives jointly with patients/ carers/ relatives and other health professionals and continually reassess patients to evaluate progress, and alter treatment programmes if required.

    To formulate accurate prognoses and recommend best course of intervention, developing comprehensive discharge plans in conjunction with senior physiotherapy staff and multidisciplinary team members as appropriate.

    To represent the physiotherapy service at the multidisciplinary team meetings.

    To be responsible for maintenance of accurate written records, in line with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) standards and Trust policy and to monitor the record keeping of undergraduate students where necessary.

    To refer patients onto community services and out of borough services when appropriate.
    To be competent in the use/application of specialised equipment such as hoists, respiratory, orthopaedic and amputee equipment.
    To comply with Trust manual handling policy and local therapeutic handling guidelines at all times.
    Demonstrates ability to communicate well with patients, Physiotherapists and other health professionals.
    High standard of written and spoken English
    Knowledge of general conditions seen in Physiotherapy
    Outpatient /orthopaedics
    Rehabilitation - Care of older people / neurology
    Understanding of national initiatives related to health and current developments in the NHS

    A wide range of Student placements including 4 out of 5 of the following essential placements:
    Neurology
    Care of older people
    Orthopaedics


    ITU
    Paediatrics
    Women's Health
    Work experience outside physiotherapy training in areas related to health and social care
    Previous Band 5 experience
    Physiotherapy Health Professions Council registration
    Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent

    Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Membership
