About this job:

An opportunity has arisen to work within the council's Private Sector Housing Team as a Tenancy Sustainment Officer.

The Private Sector Housing Team at Barking and Dagenham is part of a larger group of Regulatory Services within the Law and Governance Directorate.


This role is key in helping improve the quality, safety and choice of residential accommodation in Barking and Dagenham through a range of professional and specialist interventions including enforcement, education, mediation and advice.


We are looking for a highly professional and experienced Tenancy Sustainment Officer who displays all of the key behaviours expected from our organisation and who is capable of providing both specialist knowledge and delivering resolution focussed outcomes for our residents.

The role requires a commitment and passion for private sector housing work and ensuring the empowerment and protection of tenants and residents from poor and rogue landlords through a range of professional, specialist and regulatory interventions.

About you:


You will be a flexible, dynamic and enthusiastic team player with excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to your duties to get them completed as efficiently as possible.

You will have a thorough understanding of Private Sector Housing and the current emerging issues and developments in the field that impacts tenants.

You will be passionate about improving the quality, safety and choice of residential accommodation in the Borough and committed to making a difference to our private rented tenants and their families.
