Welcome to PureCare, a Greater Manchester-based owner-operated company with five children's homes supporting up to 15 children.

Since our inception in 2018, we have grown organically with a strong focus on providing therapeutic care to the young people in our homes.

Our small and personal approach ensures that every staff member and young person feels valued and supported.


We are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate Head of Psychology to oversee the therapeutic input across our homes, work directly with both children and staff, and shape our approach based on your unique strengths.

As our Head of Psychology, you can expect:

  • A starting salary of £55,000 per year, with room for negotiation based on your experience.

Requirements:


  • Hold a qualification as a Psychologist, ideally with a specialist focus (e.g., Educational Psychologist).
  • Be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the British Psychological Society (BPS).
  • Possess experience working with children, preferably in a care or educational setting.
  • Hold a valid driver's license, have access to their own car, and be willing to travel between our homes located in Greater Manchester (all within approximately 20 minutes of each other).

Key Responsibilities

Direct Work with the Kids

  • Engage in direct work and ongoing sessions with young people through various methods, such as therapy session inside the home and ecotherapy sessions outside the home.
  • Document and evidence your work using our internal therapy documentation system (Formation and Assessment documents and session notes).
  • Communicate with home teams about the progress of each young person, providing feedback on recommendations for approach and specific areas of work to be carried out.

Assistant Psychologist Supervision

  • Conduct professional supervisions, including weekly clinical supervision and bimonthly line management supervision.
  • Provide pastoral support and delegate tasks as appropriate, ensuring professional development guidance and regular training in line with development needs.
  • Oversee work with young people and consult on sharing workload and assigning tasks to each young person.

Training Development & Delivery

  • Arrange and develop courses as needed for the benefit of the staff team, following guidance from care home senior management.
  • Present facetoface training and update online training, collaborating with care home senior management to ensure training courses align with current rotas.
  • Create new training materials when necessary.

Therapeutic Coaching

  • Offer optional Therapeutic Coaching sessions to all staff, including management, to foster their professional development.
  • Share relevant matters with home managers when necessary.

Collaboration with Home Management

  • Review progress on young people, training needs, and dates during consultations with home managers.
  • Provide relevant feedback on staff based on Therapeutic Coaching sessions or other observations.
  • Attend meetings related to care planning and support of young people's placements.

Referral Review & Assessment

  • Review referrals for potential new young people and assess their impact with home managers.
  • Participate in preplacement meetings with home managers and deputies.

Day-to-Day Staff Support

  • Provide adhoc consultation on young people with managers or staff as needed through key working sessions.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings and team gatherings.

Salary:
£55,000.00 per year
