Purpose of Job
To assist with the daily running of shifts, reporting directly to the Care Manager, and supporting the continuous development of the service, creating a safe and nurturing environment for the service users.
This will also include assisting the tenants with their needs and providing support to the team you would be leading.
To work one in three weekends.Main Duties
- To lead the daytoday shifts at Wilberforce House, along with other services within York & Tadcaster when required
- Participate in the process to cover shifts ensuring that sufficient numbers of staff are on duty.
- Support the efficiency of the rotas by completing admin tasks such as weekly checks, agency checks, and invoices and that times and tasks are scheduled and correct
- Help book and organise training as well as update the training figures
- Use the One Plan System to observe, review, and ensure that calls are conducted within the correct time frame and that all tasks are completed
- Ensure that emergency response calls using the Appello Telecare System are responded to within the correct timeframe and that the response matched what was required.
- Be available for emergency response
- Provide leadership and support for Support Workers that are on shift by answering questions, providing guidance and advice
- Allocate and delegate other work and tasks to Background Support Workers if necessary.
- To maintain skills and knowledge and ensure that care and support is delivered according to latest guidelines and best practice evidence available.
- Work closely with the Care Managers and Rota and Training Coordinator to ensure that shifts are covered with trained and competent staff.
- Directly line manager and undertake line management responsibilities for Support Workers
- Conduct annual appraisals and required supervisions for all direct reports
- Complete competencies with new staff or staff that have competencies due
- To be responsible for ensuring new and existing members of staff complete the Care Certificate
- Prepare monthly reports and updates for the Care Manager
- Attend monthly Supervisor meetings
- Work closely with the Care Management team to ensure that a safe, effective, and efficient care service is maintained which meets the needs of the tenants.
- Support the Care Team in developing, improving, and growing the Care and Support service.
- Ensure that reports on accidents and incidents involving Care and Support are reported efficiently and swiftly using RADAR
- Ensure that Facility defects, breakages and issues are reported efficiently and swiftly using RADAR
- Work effectively with the other Shift Supervisors ensuring good communication and teamwork
- Complete spot checks of medication, finances and infection control and report any concerns
- Help ensure that Wilberforce Trust maintain a safe living and working environment
- Building and maintain effective working relationships with professionals from other agencies, as well as families of our tenants
- To take part in the out of hours oncall support on a rotational basis.
- To attend meetings as and when required
