    Health & Safety Assistant cGBP35k - GBP40k + GBP5k c/a & bens - Worcester

    This Construction & Building Services Company have been established 20 years and carry out the delivery of a wide range of projects both in the UK and overseas, from simple small works to full-scale building construction.

    An opportunity has come up for a H&S Assistant, reporting in to the company H&S Manager,to join the team based from their Worcester office with occasional visits to Darlington office.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • To work within the SHEQ department to improve continuous improvement on all SHE aspects.
    • Advise on contractor s procurement competence issues.
    • Liaise with contractors SHE representatives to improve and develop practices and systems.
    • Provide all necessary Construction Phase Plans, Environmental Impact Assessments, and Site Waste Management Plans, setting systems for Permits to Work, Lifting Operations and Temporary Works Procedures.
    • Write, advice on and review RAMs where required and directed by the contracts manamgers.
    • Assist in Near Miss reporting processes, report monthly targets and frequency reports for all incidents on the project.
    • Carry out routine and one-off inspection audits and site tours, attend Safety Committee meetings.
    • Identify skills shortages or additional training needs, preparing and carrying out required training and / or arranging for attendance to external courses as needed.
    • Support Contracts Managers on general day to day Health safety duties / Project Duties and responsibilities in line with Company and regulatory procedures

    Qualifications and key skills required

    • NEBOSH Construction Certificate / General certificate as a minimum.
    • Construction project experience essential Min 2 years
    • Health and safety legislation, regulations and guidance.
    • Construction industry experience and in particular CDM 2015.
    • Motivated, determined, qualified and experienced Safety Professional with Construction experience.
    • Ability to inspire, influence, direct personnel to achieve higher standards whilst supporting and developing a strong team spirit and culture.
    • Leads by example, proactively connecting to and supporting others to improve their H&S performance.
    • Initiative and drive to get things done correctly, with emphasis on working with and through people.
    • Temporary works co-ordinator an advantage
