Legal Assistants will generally be expected to be self-supporting in terms of typing and administration and will have an hourly rate and fee target set accordingly, but where it is commercially justifiable they may be provided with appropriate administrative and/or typing support.

The role is expected to require excellent literacy, numeracy, accuracy and attention to detail. They will have excellent keyboard and IT skills.

The Legal Assistant's enthusiasm and energy are expected to allow him or her to make a full contribution to the dynamic operation of their team.

They will take responsibility for their own success seeking continuously to improve their own skills and to provide good value to clients in the legal services they provide.

The Legal Assistant will operate under the supervision and responsibility of a designated lawyer within each department. Legal Assistants should be prepared to participate fully in training and activities designed for Legal Assistants across the firm.


Technical skills and expertise
- have financial crime/commercial litigation experience preferable, but not essential; completed the LPC or BPC with a 2:1 at degree level; circa 6 months paralegal (or equivalent) experience;
- manage a caseload of varying complexity;
- have excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with team members, clients, counsel and third parties;
- be adaptable, work well under pressure and have time management skills to prioritise competing workloads
- conduct research and legal analysis;
- meet the firm's set targets for charging time to clients;
- have organisational skills and attention to detail;
- have the ability to think critically and have legal problem solving skills;
- produce accurate and timely responses to tasks received from the Financial Crime Partner and Associate;
- have interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with other members of the department and work as a team.
