    Band 5 Staff Nurse - Day Surgery Unit (WBCH Thatcham) - PART TIME

    We have 2 x part-time posts available - one for hours per week and one for hours per week.

    PLEASE NOTE: This post is based at West Berkshire Community Hospital (WBCH), London Road, Benham Hill, Thatcham, RG18 3AS.

    We are looking for a staff nurse to join our ward team within the day surgery unit, working Monday to Friday.

    You will be caring for patients undergoing a range of surgical and endoscopy procedures.

    We will provide opportunities for nurses to develop both professionally and personally, through local training and external professional courses.

    Main duties of the job

  • Working as part of the multidisciplinary team focusing on the ward team.
  • Admission and preparation of patients for surgical and endoscopy procedures.
  • Recovery and discharge of patients following different anaesthetics.
  • Recognises, responds to and appropriately manages emergency situations.
  • Work autonomously in a nurse led unit.
  • Maintaining accurate patient records on EPR.
  • To assist with ordering and maintaining the clinical area.

    Job responsibilities

    Undertaking and recording a comprehensive nursing assessment and planning, delivering and evaluating high standards of evidenced based nursing care to a diverse group of patients.

    Deliver care without direct supervision. Accountable for the care delivered and any omissions of care.

    Teach and supervise more junior staff, students and the non-registered nursing workforce.

    Accountable for care or any omissions of care that he/she delegates to others.

    Act as role model, delivering care with empathy and compassion as part of a multidisciplinary team.

    Develops competences and practices relevant clinical skills required to deliver care to the patient/client group, venepuncture, cannulation.
