The Antenatal and Newborn Screening Screen is looking to employ a Senior Audiologist to work within our Hearing team as The Newborn Hearing Screening Team Leader.


The post holder will be responsible for the quality and governance of the NHSP at West Herts, typically working 3.5 hours per week.

The NHSP Team Leader is the champion of, and the strategic lead for, the local programme.

The post holder will have clinical and professional responsibility for the overall running of the programme.

Central to the post is the role of managing quality improvement and governance within the training and data management divisions of the programme


There has never been a more exciting time to join West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Major redevelopment works are due for completion by 2025 or soon after.

These will be most dramatic at Watford General Hospital where up to 90% of buildings will be new.

  • The post holder will:
  • Act as the strategic lead for the local NHSP programme with responsibility and authority for leading the service.
  • Ensure that there is an ongoing educational programme for health professionals involved in hearing screening.
  • Oversee the running of the local NHSP programme in accordance with national policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Take overall responsibility and accountability for the management, quality assurance and clinical governance of all aspects of the local NHSP programme.
  • Ensure local NHSP programme performance meets quality standards, and provide appropriate reports to the Trust, Public Health and NHSP Quality Assurance teams. Newborn Hearing Screening Programme
  • Receive, read, disseminate, and act upon regular and other reports supplied by the NHSP programme.
  • Take professional responsibility for the programme where appropriate. If this is not appropriate the responsibility should be appropriately devolved to a named lead
  • The senior audiologist is expected to input and attend the quarterly Antenatal and newborn local steering and board meetings
