    South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Doctor in Critical Care Medicine

    South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to be able to offer Trust Doctor (CT1 level) posts in our critical care service. The posts would suit candidates who have completed foundation training and wish to develop their clinical skills and experience or to pursue a career in the acute specialities. The James Cook University Hospital is one of the largest teaching hospitals in the North of England and is a Major Trauma Centre with its own helipad. It acts as the regional referral centre for critical care for sub-specialties including major trauma, spinal injuries, neurocritical care and vascular. We treat around 2600 critically ill patients per year with excellent outcomes.

    Main duties of the job

    The successful candidate will provide day and out-of-hours service on the resident rota with the support of other residents, ACCPs, Middlegrades and the critical care team. The quality of training you will receive during on-call and day shifts is renowned.

    These posts begin in August 2024 and are for 12 months. As a large tertiary training and research centre, we have a wealth of opportunities. Our team have an excellent legacy of supporting our trust doctors into training posts.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
  • ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT SKILLS AS TAUGHT ON ALS OR ACLS COURSES
  • Desirable

  • FIRST PART OF A POSTGRADUATE QUALIFICATION EG FRCA, MRCP, MRCS
  • COMPLETION OF ANY OF THE FOLLOWING COURSES: ALERT, ATLS, APLS, CCrISP, IMPACT, CCrIMP
  • Experience

    Essential

  • MINIMUM 24 MONTHS EXPERIENCE OF HOSPITAL MEDICINE AFTER QUALIFICATION
  • EXPERIENCE OF WORKING IN THE NHS
  • Desirable

  • 6 MONTHS EXPERIENCE OF ACUTE GENERAL MEDICINE INCLUDING UNSELECTED EMERGENCY ADMISSIONS
