Our client is a very well-established and multi-faceted Regional Civil Engineering business based in the west of Scotland. This contractor works within various sectors including power, marine mainly in Central Scotland.

With a variety of civil engineering projects in the pipeline, they expect a busy year ahead and would like to add an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to their team to ensure that projects are completed safely and on time.


As a Health and Safety Advisor you will be responsible for:

  • Maintain and develop the company HSEQ Integrated Management System to achieve ISO certification.
  • Site inspections.
  • Advising, writing, owning and maintaining all HSE standards and requirements.
  • Overseeing site activity with specific oversight of safety procedures.
  • Contributing to new tenders and bids.
  • External environment assessments to ensure safe working.
  • Carry out regular site inspections and audits.
  • Compiling and completing compliance reports and site documentation.
  • Reporting to site management on activity.
  • Ensuring all working practices are in line with current legislation.
  • Taking a proactive approach in working with the client counterpart to deliver project to specification.

Applicants must be an excellent communicator and have the following:

  • Educated to a degree or HNC level as a minimum.
  • Proven experience as a health and safety advisor with a civils contractor is essential.
  • Due to the nature of the project, previous experience working on civil engineering projects is required.
  • CSCS, NEBOSH and Grad IOSH qualifications.
  • ISO internal Auditor.
  • Full UK drivers' licence.
  • Willingness to visit sites throughout Scotland.
