Major Programmes and Projects (MPP) are the capital infrastructure delivery specialists to the DIO & MOD.

Based UK & Overseas, our dedicated professionals are passionate about the work they do and the projects we deliver as an organisation.

These include the development of runways and jetties, key refurbishments, accommodation for US Forces and much more.

MPP's portfolio includes high profile and complex projects, with our Major Programmes in value over £1bn.

We have 7 directorates, some which are directly aligned to our Front-Line Commands which strengthens our support in the delivery of Capital Infrastructure.

We are excited to offer the opportunity for Schedule and Capacity Planning lead to join our professional team.


The Schedule and Capacity Planning lead is responsible for the development of the Command Infrastructure Delivery Programme (CIDP) working collaboratively across multiple customer stakeholder communities.

Working collaboratively with PMO leadership to create a plan of agreed deliverables to fulfil the annual customer demand ensuring MPP UKStratCom has adequate project management and commercial resources to deliver outputs.

Working at the heart of a high-profile Capital Infrastructure delivery team, this post sits within the UKStratCom Programme Management Office (PMO).

The role will play a proactive part in analysis of data to provide insights into current and future resource demand, project and programme complexity modelling and impact of programme and portfolio risk to delivery.


It is important to note that this is a reserved position requiring Developed Vetting and is therefore open to Sole UK Nationals, you must have resided in the UK for the last 10 years.

Person specification:


  • Support to Leadership and Management within the UKStratCom PMO and wider MPP
  • Working collaboratively with the customer and delivery teams agree an annual programme of deliverables to meet customer requirements.
  • Schedule planning sessions engaging with all key stakeholders to ensure all customer demands are met.
  • Work with the MPP Portfolio Manager for UKStratCom to understand any new project injects to the plan.
  • Ensure adequate optimism bias has been removed from programme milestones.
  • Work with the Customer Support Team to ensure the CIDP plan and deliverables are endorsed by the 1* Programme Director and 1* Customer Infrastructure Leads.
  • With a focus on continuous improvement develop the capacity plan, monitoring current project management resource and performance to inform the future ability to meet demand.
  • Using the available data and through engagement with the customer, understand and score the complexity of the projects within the portfolio providing advice as to how this will impact DIO's capability to resource.
  • Development of accurate resource and forecasting models for current and new projects, working closely with delivery teams, Portfolio Office and the customers to enable delivery teams to hit their agreed in year deliverables.
  • Support the creation of baselines for the portfolio in MS Project Online to inform assurance activities and milestones held within IMS system.
  • Support the development of the capacity and planning tools and services across the MPP PMO community.
  • Build and maintain a repository of good examples of programme and project planning documentation.
  • Effectively communicate the benefits of effective planning to key stakeholders in the wider business.
  • Collaborate with the leads of the other teams/functions within the MPP to identify and implement improvement opportunities
