    Game Artist – 3D VR Environments for EmbodyXRMercurial Dance are seeking a 3D Game Artist for up to 25 days work to build environments and assets as part of exciting new digital project, EmbodyXR.Production period1st May - 13th JulyAbout EmbodyXREmbodyXR is an immersive Virtual Reality dance art experience, aimed at raising mental health awareness & mitigating anxiety in Young People aged Having matured from a Proof of Concept phase, we will now be delivering a midlands regional tour across Coventry, Nuneaton, Leicester & Birmingham, involving specific groups from schools, universities & libraries.

    Each group will play a pivotal role in the project's co-creation, as we work alongside these audiences/participants, our artists, designers, and partners to realise our ambitions.

    Our future roadmap includes strategic business modelling so longer term we can develop an international version of EmbodyXR, for play at home release on App stores.

    Job role detailsThe 3D Game Artist will play a crucial role in bringing the digital world of EmbodyXR to life by:

    • Creating 3D environments and assets for 5 unique game levels of the EmbodyXR game,o Responding to 2D artwork and prototype VR buildo Estimated time budget 5 days work per level (25 days)
    • A skilled generalist who can deliver low poly environments, assets, props and textures built for Unity Games Engine
    • Optimising assets for performance and compatibility with Meta Quest 3
    • Working alongside the creative team, including Creative Director, UX developer, Project Manager, and Marketing Manager to produce high quality work, maintaining prompt and effective communication.
    • Maintaining organised asset libraries and documentation to facilitate asset management and future project development (across GitHub and Google Docs)
    • Editing creations based on reviews and feedback gathered during testing phase and refining assets for audience experience
    • Ensuring artwork is suitable for target audience of 13-25 year olds
    • Maintaining consistent consideration of the theme of mental health and wellbeing in artworksRequirements:
    • Minimum 2 years experience as a 3D Game artist, with a strong portfolio showcasing high-quality low-poly 3D models, textures, and animations.
    • Proficiency in Unity Games Engine with a strong understanding of VR-specific considerations and challenges.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues related to asset creation and integration in VR environments.
    • Strong capabilities in art, design with an eye for detail and aesthetics, including colour, illustration and rendering.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment, communicate ideas and feedback clearly, and adapt to evolving project requirements.
    • Excellent time management skills and ability to work to deadlines
    • Degree in 3D art, animation, game design, or related field preferred.
