    Job Title: Shift Engineer (electrically biased)

    Location: Stevenage

    Salary: up to 50k

    Job Type: Permanent / Shift pattern of 4 on 4 off alternating days and nights

    The Role

    Reporting to the Engineering Team Leader and supporting the Production Management Team, the multi-skilled engineer will be responsible for providing engineering resource in carrying out breakdown repairs, planned maintenance, refurbishment, installation, improvements and modifications or upgrade to plant and services in order to maximise plant performance and maintain equipment to the required standard.

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Responsible for working with production to ensure plant/equipment breakdowns are repaired in an efficient, timely and cost-effective way.
    • Minimise waste in all formats/product/time.
    • Maintain high standards of Hygiene and housekeeping in all work areas.
    • Report plant performance using appropriate company standards and ensure action on/Communication of non-conformance or engineering issues.
    • Carry out duties and tasks across the factory as deemed necessary and suitable to reduce downtime.
    • To coach and support team members in engineering tasks.
    • Continuous improvement activity on lines and driving change culture
    • Effective breakdown repairs in line with production requirements
    • Effective planned maintenance inspections as per plan, reviewing frequencies, parts used, meantime between failure rates, overhaul and repair of plant.
    • Help to generate and maintain compliance to DSOPs/Risk Assessments.
    • Continually monitor plant conditions and report defects
    • Act as a team champion of good engineering standards

    The Candidate

    • Breakdown repair, PPM activity on all service and equipment
    • Previous engineering experience and knowledge of process/FMCG equipment min 3 years
    • Formal engineering qualification to at least City & Guilds level, NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a mechanical/electrical discipline with practical experience
    • Safety
    • 18th Edition wiring Regs
    • PM tool experience
    • PLC experience (desirable).
