Overview:


First Military Recruitment is proudly working in partnership with a fantastic Maritime business who are looking to recruit a Maritime & Offshore Safety Instructor for their Head Office in South Gloucestershire.

The Maritime & Offshore Safety Instructor will predominantly be responsible for providing full training to students in addition to equip people with skills and knowledge that will be of the
utmost importance when they are working at sea. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established business, yet growing business in addition to offering career progression.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Instructing on approved courses across a range of competencies, both theoretical and practical, in both lead and support roles.
  • Feeding back to students on their progress, answering questions and encouraging positive progression throughout their learning journeys.
  • Deliver teaching to all students in a way that takes into account differing learning styles and personal abilities.
  • React to student feedback.
  • Develop course materials for current courses and reapprovals as required, and in line with MCA and MNTB requirements.
  • Develop new courses and materials as the offering develops or as per client requirements.
  • Complete administration duties for courses and the training centre.
  • Support in problem resolution, such as assisting colleagues and students where necessary, helping with facilities and training shortfalls, and ensuring the business needs are supported.
  • Help provide students and clients with training advice regarding training and courses.
  • Deliver all of the above in a way that positively reflects the ethos and culture, exemplifying high personal standards and expectations.
  • Maintenance, cleaning and repair of equipment to ensure smooth and safe course delivery.
  • Time management and ability to schedule and prioritise.

Skills and Experience:


  • Professional qualifications
  • MCA approved tickets in line with course teaching requirements.
  • Experience in the maritime industry and/or HM Armed Forces.
  • Physical ability to carry out the requirements of the role, including practical elements of sea survival and fire fighting training.
  • Either a current ENG1 seafarer's medical, or the fitness required to pass one.
  • Must be a strong communicator in verbal and written English.
  • Strong swimming skills.
  • Full UK driving licence essential, ideally with D1 +E endorsement.
  • Teaching experience in both practical and theory elements of courses, including Fire Fighting, Personal Survival Techniques and Survival Craft & Rescue Boats.
  • The right to live and work in the UK.
