We are seeking a mechanical engineer to join us in a pivotal role at the forefront of a ground-breaking start-up within the robotics and automation industry. This isn't just any opportunity – it's a chance to be an integral part of a forward-looking team, driving innovation and shaping the future.

    About Us

Bot-Hive is an early stage start-up in the robotics and automation sector. We focus on building a new era in industrial automation; we call it the era of Flexible Automation. Our library of pre-configured automation devices enables contract manufacturers and logistics teams to flexibly change their automation systems in line with changing demand.

Your main task will be to elevate our alpha-ready flexible system to a production-ready product. This will involve overseeing every aspect of the design process, from detailed design and development through to hands-on implementation and deployment.

Demonstrated technical expertise underpinned by practical hands-on experience is a fundamental requirement for this role. We are seeking candidates who hold a degree and possess 1-2 years of industrial experience, bolstered by a track record of successfully executing practical projects. Alternatively, qualified apprentices with a proven aptitude for design are encouraged to apply.

    Specific skills include:

    • Mechanical Design Skills: Strong understanding of mechanical principles and manufacturing processes to design efficient and functional parts & systems.

    • DFMA Proficiency: Designing parts for cost-effective manufacturing processes and ease of assembly.
    • Assembly and Prototyping: Proficiency in assembling and prototyping mechanical systems and machines.
    • Mechanical Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve mechanical issues that arise during assembly or operation. Strong problem-solving skills are essential in this role.
    • Project Management Skills: Ability to manage project timelines, prioritize tasks, and multitask effectively to meet deadlines and deliver quality results.

    Nice-to-have:

    • Manufacturing experience: Qualifications/experience in machining and/or rapid prototyping.

Here at Bot-Hive, we're hot on company culture, authenticity and emotional intelligence so it's essential that we're aligned across the below values:

    • Entrepreneurial with a can-do attitude
    • Flexible - we're still a startup so very little is laid out in front of you. Instead you're required to work well in a greenfield workload environment
