An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Resuscitation training department for a full time band 6 Resuscitation Officer based at Watford General Hospital.


The successful applicant will be either a registered nurse, operating department practitioner, state registered paramedic or equivalent professional qualification, with appropriate post-registration experience.


As well as providing resuscitation training sessions, the post-holder will be expected - when possible - to attend adult and paediatric cardiac and peri arrest calls as a specialist member of the resuscitation team.


Applicants should be Advanced Life Support (ALS) or Immediate Life Support (ILS) instructors, preferably in either adult or paediatric resuscitation.

However, as this may be a developmental post, consideration will be given to Immediate Life Support (ILS) or Paediatric Immediate Life support (PILS) providers with a view to completing an advanced life support course or progression to ILS/PILS instructor within 12 months of appointment.

The post-holder is expected to work across all sites within the Trust.

These will be most dramatic at Watford General Hospital where up to 90% of buildings will be new.

The Resuscitation Officer will be based at Watford General Hospital but will be required to visit both the Hemel Hempstead hospital and St Albans City Hospital sites to implement training and perform audits.


In accordance with nationally and locally agreed standards, the post holder will assist with the planning, organisation, implementation, and evaluation of the resuscitation training programme.

This includes both adult and paediatric basic, intermediate and advanced resuscitation skills to a level compatible with the expected degree of competence.


The Resuscitation Officer will contribute to an effective clinical risk management strategy and ensure clinical governance responsibilities in relation to resuscitation are appropriately discharged.
