    Clinical Psychologist Paediatric Neurology
    8 FTE Band 8a clinical psychology position in Paediatric Neurology.

    We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic clinical Psychologist or final year Trainee Clinical Psychologist who is interested in expanding their experience in working with children with neurological conditions, and with previous experience of and/or a strong interest in the assessment and provision of therapeutic interventions to children with neurological conditions.

    The postholder will join the Children's Neurology Service at the Nottingham Children's Hospital (QMC). Children and young people experiencing neurological conditions can experience a range of psychological difficulties.
    We would welcome applications from newly qualified psychologists, or 3rd Year Trainees due to qualify in 2024.
    The main duties of the role will involve working closely with the multidisciplinary Children's Neurology Team. You will work with children and young people through consultation to staff, direct work and by attending multidisciplinary clinics. Your base will predominantly be at the Children's Hospital QMC campus.

    You will be part of a welcoming and growing Clinical Psychology Department which incorporates specialisms in Paediatric Psychology, Adult Medical Psychology and Child and Adult Neuropsychology.

    The post holder will provide highly specialist assessment and therapeutic intervention to children with neurological conditions, including epilepsy, neuromuscular and other neurological conditions.

    It is essential that the post-holder has a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and to be HCPC registered by the time of commencing in post.

    There are opportunities for continued professional development and clinical supervision is well provided for within the paediatric medical and neuropsychology clinical psychology team.

    We regularly have trainees from the DClinPsy courses around the region, so there would be opportunities to supervise trainees.

    You will also be involved in providing consultation, training and supervision as required to others within and outside of the multidisciplinary team.

    Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, highly technical, and clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS
    Skills in providing consultation & supervision to other professional and non-professional groups
    Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health
    Knowledge of the theory and practice of highly specialised psychological therapies or assessment methodologies
    Well-developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies for children with chronic physical health conditions
    Knowledge of complex multivariate data analysis as practiced within the field of clinical psychology
    Planning and organisation skills
    Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS
    Ability to develop and use complex multi-media materials for presentations in public, professional and academic settings
    Experience and/or training in the supervision of other psychologists.
    Up to date immunisations are required (including TB, HepB)
    Ability to move between a number of locations within the hospital in a working day, and travel to specific locations within the Region
    Ability to work flexible hours to suit the service and its clients
    Training & Qualifications
    Postgraduate doctoral level (or equivalent) training in clinical psychology as accredited by the BPS
    Experience in paediatric psychology
    Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
    Paediatric psychology training courses
    Working as a qualified Clinical Psychologist or final year Trainee Clinical Psychologist due to qualify in 2024
    Experience of working in an acute hospital setting
    Experience of exercising clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment
    Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision
    Experience of working with children
    Experience conducting clinical research
    Experience of representing psychology within the context of multi-disciplinary care

    Salary:
    The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
