Senior Human Resource Assistant

I am working for a multi-academy trust in Ipswich who are recruiting for a senior human resource assistant. As HR assistant you will ensure the organisation complies with statute and best practice in employment standards. You will support the strategic HumanResource goals and directives of the HR Manager and Principal. You will also provide dedicated and timely case-management support to operational managers acting as first point of contact. Finally, you will provide training and coaching to support/develop managerson a variety of HR areas

What is the day to day of the role?

  • To manage individual cases relating to grievance, capability, sickness, attendance, probation and disciplinary issues, providing dedicated, accurate and timely support and guidance to operational managers as required.
  • To provide advice, and guidance on a spectrum of employment and HR issues to managers and staff
  • To monitor developments in employment law and other requirements and recommend appropriate action
  • Inform the Senior HR Advisor and HR Manager on the progress of individual cases and be responsible for updating the case load matrix
  • To undertake adhoc project work as directed by the HR Services Manager including renewals of staff benefits
  • To assist with the preparation of reports, reviews, budgets, documents
  • Recruit & develop skilled, confident, resilient and caring staff through effective coaching & management of their induction training, performance, appraisals and managing any attendance issues
  • Dynamic working an average week will involve 2 remote days and 3 in the office

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Able to work well under pressure and to meet performance targets and tight deadlines
  • Possession of excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Demonstrable Operational H.R. experience covering at least the last 3 years
  • Previous involvement in reviewing, developing and implementing HR policies
  • Understanding of current employment law and the forthcoming legislative agenda
