About the role

Balfour Beatty VINCI has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Buyer to join our Procurement team working on HS2, based from our office in Kingsbury.


Role Purpose


To assist with procurement activities, supporting the Procurement Managers and Senior Buyers in the procurement of works which deliver customer priorities and ensure value is maximised.


What you'll be doing

  • Supporting the procurement teams with tendering, market analysis, supplier selection, risk and opportunity assessments, forecasting requirements.
  • Carrying out supplier evaluations and commercial checks for suppliers and past performance.
  • Facilitate an efficient and compliant process for all material and plant procurement.
  • Support the development of procurement plans and packaging strategies.
  • Assist in the development of efficient valueadded reports.
  • Focus on exceeding minimum service expectations by delivering an agile, value adding service with a deep understanding of customer requirements, technical competence, functional knowledge and process efficiency.

Who we're looking for

  • Ability to deconstruct contractual information into smaller categories in order to draw conclusions.
  • Ability to understand the commercial aspects and its impacts.
  • A measured approach to decision making and the ability to ensure best value procurement
  • Ability to focus on the targets and work well under pressure with tight deadlines.
  • Ability to achieve thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task.
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic financial and accounting principles in order to have sound judgment when making decisions
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
  • Knowledge of effective negotiation skills with both internal and external customers
