Your new role

Due to continued success and growth, we have a fantastic Building Surveyor opportunity to provide building surveying services and assist the Asset Management Team to grow commercial income.

You will provide sound technical skills across the full range of activities carried out by the profession and provide advice and guidance to the clients Estates team and clients tenants.

You will be responsible for:


  • Ensuring that safety is always the priority, promote safe working practices, ensure full implementation and compliance with Key Processes and our Safety Responsibility Statement
  • Liaising with Tenant's their contractors or designers and where applicable assist to ensure shop fit plans contain information to obtain client/Network Rail approval. Attend site for meetings when required.
  • Liaising with Tenant's and their contractors and review Method Statements and Risk Assessments and where compliant liaise with the clients Safety Review in obtaining consent and where consent received, issue Authority to Work.
  • Chairing and attending prestart meetings with Tenant's contractors, tenants, and representatives of Station Management in advance of tenant's works.
  • Monitoring Tenants contractors works on site to ensure compliance with approved RAMS and clients Health & Safety Processes. Attend meetings with Tenant's contractors during works.
  • Attending completion meetings with tenant's contractors, receive copies of compliance paperwork in advance of issuing Authority to trade. Where applicable submit as built designs to client/Network Rail.
  • Providing technical assistance in creating annotated drawings detailing building works to enhance the clients retail provision. Where applicable place designs onto CAD and create plans for client and Network Rail approval.
  • Providing detailed specifications for works and to liaise with contractors in obtaining quotes.
  • Project Managing client's contractors on approved schemes.
  • Establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with clients, in order that their requirements are fully understood and implemented.
  • Liaising with Tenant's contractors promote use of generic method statements to encompass ongoing maintenance, liaise with clients Safety Review and where consent received, issue Authority to Work.
  • Attending site where Building surveying knowledge is required inspect faults and report to client's maintenance team, as required.
  • Ensuring all work undertaken complies with the RICS' guidelines and practice notes.
  • Identifying opportunities to upsell / cross sell other services into client organisations as appropriate
  • Working with colleagues and the Amey Business Development function to identify and exploit new business opportunities for the Amey TPT division.

We want to hear from you if you have / are:

  • Educated to RICS accredited degree level or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong project management and coordination skills
  • Sound knowledge of Building Regulations, Planning, Health and Safety and ideally Network Rail Technical regulations.
  • Experience in working in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Able to work to a high degree of accuracy and to prioritise and plan effectively.
  • IOSH working safely (training can be given)
  • Have a high level of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office.
