The post holder will support RPC's external clients to ensure the safety of patients, visitors and staff who come into contact with all forms of ionising radiations.
There will also be a strong commitment to work with external clients on optimisation projects and provide hands on support for a wide range of radiation protection issues.
To carry out routine radiation safety tests of X-ray equipment including general radiology, fluoroscopy, mammography, dental, CT and digital imaging equipment.
Commissioning and critical examination of imaging equipment and assistance in the development of relevant procedures and protocolsfor such testing.
To assist the RPA and MPE with the assessment of compliance of radiology departments with legal requirements for radiationsafety.
Advice and hands on support for optimisation projectsProvision of radiation protection specifications for new radiological imaging facilities
Ensuring adequate radiation shielding of radiology rooms
The Radiological Protection Centre (RPC) at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust acts as Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA),Radioactive Waste Adviser (RWA), Medical Physics Expert (MPE) to a large number of healthcare organisations around the British Isles.
Staff have the opportunity to travel extensivelyand visit some of the best parts of the country.
