    Earthstream are proud to be recruiting a Commissioning Engineer for a leading control systems business delivering high-integrity solutions to a prestiguous client base across Transporation Infrastructure, Power, Tunnels and Airport industries

    Job Role: Commissioning Engineer

    Location: Derby

    Salary: £30,000 - £51,000 pa

    What we need from you.

    You will work as a Commissioning Engineer within the control system industry having some of the following skills; we do not expect you to have experience in all these areas and for the right candidate on the job training and mentoring will be provided to fill any skills gaps you may have.

    • Checking installation of equipment (by others) is to correct standard prior to starting testing. Including: verifying installation against the installation drawing and marking up any differences; checking termination of plant equipment cables into outstation meets standards in Code of Practice; creating an installation snag list.
    • Performing testing of system according to Installation and Commissioning Test (ICT) document.
    • PLC data input tests including verification of: operation of I/O to and from plant and field devices using hardwired 24v VFCs into PLC; data to and from PLC connected to plant and field devices using a serial interface; data to and from PLC connected to networked devices. i.e. ethernet, modbus, etc; PLC functional control and monitoring of plant and field devices. E.g. fan control with fail-to-run monitoring.
    • Field device set-up and tests including: configuration and set-up of sensors; verification of operation. E.g. Sensors, CCTV cameras, PA speakers, etc.
    • Issue tracking and correction: Record any test failures in the Issue Tracker software; fault find and correct any simple PLC code (signal inversion, pulse stretching, etc.) or wiring issues; fault find and correct any simple functional PLC code or interface issues; fault find and correct any simple SCADA issues e.g. alarm text, tag mapping, etc.
    • Perform client SAT according to SAT documents, including: Record any test failures in the Issue Tracker software; Fault find and correct any simple PLC code (signal inversion, pulse stretching, etc.) or wiring issues; fault find and correct any simple functional PLC code or interface issues; fault find and correct any simple SCADA issues e.g. alarm text, tag mapping, etc.
    • Perform client SAT according to SAT documents, including: system wide operational control tests for each system; testing integrated system functionality; site-wide failure scenarios such as major power loss and recovery.
    • Qualified to HND level or above in electrical or control engineering.
    • Have at least 2 years relevant work experience in testing of electrical control systems.
    • Have a full UK driving licence
    • Have no criminal convictions due to security clearances required by airport authorities.
    • This is a field-based role covering the UK and (occasionally Europe) and is ideally suited for someone based in the Midlands or the South with a flexible approach to travelling and working away from home.
