POSITION:
Activity Assistant


RESPONSIBLE TO:
Nurse Manager


FUNCTION:

To assist the Activities Co-Ordinator with planning, implementing, delivering, evaluating and modifying a range of events and activities, which are appropriate for the client, group cared for within the home.

The successful applicant will be responsible in assisting to provide a comprehensive service of therapeutic recreation and music therapy designed to eliminate boredom, helplessness, loneliness, and meet the individual interests of the patients who reside in our Home


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To deliver a programme of activities for the homes' patients/residents and record levels of interest, participation and keep appropriate documentation. Observing participants at activities/events to gauge their enjoyment and obtain their feedback to improve events.
  • To organise materials needed for activities carried out within the home.
  • To fund raising and social events organised by the home. Handling logistics to make the event possible, such as making phone calls, advertising, managing inventory and budgets, training and motivating volunteers or employees, and coordinating transportation.
  • To be mindful at all times of patient/resident limitations when involved in activities.
  • To attend mandatory training as required by management
  • To ensure the Homes Health & Safety policy and procedures are adhered to at all times.
  • During the course of your employment you will have access to confidential client information it is of the utmost importance that this is not disclosed to third parties who should not be in possession of it and maintained in line with the home's confidentiality policy.
  • Keeping records regarding event planning resources, participant interest, and other notable information, such as injuries or behavioural incidents.
  • Reporting medical concerns or observations.
  • Activity Staff will be required to carry out responsibilities as requested by the Nurse Manager. Where necessary training will be provided
