Advice and Support Officer


Location:
Central London (hybrid - required to travel to Central London once a month)


Pay rate:
£18.13 plus holiday pay


Employment type:
Temporary (part time)


Working hours: 28 hours per week - 4 days week (flexible on days)

This role will predominately involve working from home with flexibility to be on site minimum once a month in Central London and occasional travel as and when required.


As an Advice and Support Officer you will be responsible for**:

  • Providing 1:1 support, and developing workshops to enhance young people's understanding of their rights
  • Provide advice and emotional support through various channels
  • Support a caseload of young people with more complex needs.
  • Lead the development and delivery of group workshops
  • Contribute to identifying themes for policy and campaigning work
  • Promote programmes in education and community settings
  • Address safeguarding concerns according to internal policy

To be successful for the role you will have:

  • Detailed, up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and local authority practice
  • Experience of successful direct work with children and young people
  • Knowledge of rights and entitlements for children in care and young care leavers
  • Experience in planning and delivering workshops to groups of young people
  • Proficient in providing advice and guidance over various communication channels
  • Experience advocating on behalf of vulnerable young people
  • Thorough knowledge of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults


You will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check if offered the role as you will be working with vulnerable children and adults.

Due to the urgency of the roles a DBS on the update service would be an advantage.
