In the UK, Safran Seats specialises solely in the First Class and Business Class seating markets for wide body aircraft, with industrial and engineering teams in Cwmbran and Newport, Wales and Brackley, England.


Due to continued growth and product demand, we are now recruiting for a Programme Cost Controller to join our Purchasing team, based in Cwmbran.


The Programme Cost Controller will create the conditions of success for costing activities to support sales offers preparation and the programme development process with direct responsibility for all Safran Seats products cost and cost management assigned to them.

The role drives continuous cost improvement using company root cause and corrective action processes.

Responsible for delivering product cost objectives, including managing cost performance, risks/opportunities, and change control according to internal rules, processes and procedures.

Key Responsibilities & Duties include;

  • Support bids, advanced projects and developments with recurring costs estimates, including aftermarket costs
  • Define tools and referential for production costs definition within Safran Seats
  • Support and recommend initiation of design to cost & cost reduction activities / methodology, with the appropriate owners (product line manager, program manager or commodity manager). Steer such projects when agreed with relevant owner.
  • Support all change control boards with the assessment of costs impacts of considered changes
  • Structure and improve globally the costing activity tools & methods
  • Create or improve, standardize parametric recurring costs models and tools per commodity with the support from research & technology, commodity purchasing and aftermarket departments

Job requirements:

This position requires an individual with a technical customer management or engineering background, ideally Product Management background;
In-depth knowledge of cost management and relationships between departments within a design to cost and manufacturing environment;
Proven experience in the commercial aviation industry desired, or within a comparable technical and regulated industry may be acceptable;
An undergraduate degree in Business Management, Manufacturing Management or an Engineering Degree is required. Master's degree is highly desirable.
