    Description

    PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

  • Our growing Infrastructure, Projects and Energy team is looking for an Associate to join our team in London.
  • We are looking for someone that has a minimum of 1years' + PQE + that can help service our growing roster of major energy, utilities, and infrastructure clients.
  • It is expected that the candidate will spend a significant portion of their time supporting our international energy clients,
  • Travel to Nigeria and other African jurisdictions will be required from time to time .
  • THE TEAM:

  • The Infrastructure Projects and Energy (IPE) team advise funds, financial institutions, energy and utility companies, developers, and public institutions on innovative, complex projects, which are frequently in the headlines.
  • Many of our team comes from a non-projects transactional background. For example, banking, construction, real estate and corporate lawyers and there is a training programme to help grasp the fundamentals of this area. The work often involves travelling and being able to see the result of the work.
  • We act for a range of developer, sponsors, and procuring authorities, and we have advised funders, as well as public and private sector clients, on some of the most challenging assignments in the market.
  • WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE ROLE:

  • With support from a partner, you will take responsibility for drafting and negotiating finance documents, joint-venture documents, corporate documents and complex commercial contracts concerning energy and infrastructure projects, as well as managing transaction process and supervising the contribution of less experienced colleagues.
  • Advising clients on their investments and operations across UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa.
  • Strongly encouraged to take responsibility for business development both engaging directly with client contacts at networking events and by providing training.
  • Continuous self-development is valued, and you will be encouraged to engage with formal training programmes (whether technical or skills based) and to draw on mentoring, coaching and leadership development programmes available to you.
  • KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Have at least 1years + PQE experience obtained in an international law firm.
  • Be flexible and agile and have enthusiasm for growing and developing your knowledge and experience of other IPE challenging work.
  • The ability to take a lead role supporting complex transactions, liaising and coordinating with fee earners from other relevant disciplines as needed
  • The ability to contribute to the general upkeep of the group (whether that be to training, precedents, or know-how generally)
  • Strong commercial awareness – but most importantly a willingness to learn and a genuine interest in infrastructure, energy and transport
  • High standard of client care for existing clients at the highest level
  • The enthusiasm to market to clients
  • Knowledge of key areas of the law by providing clear, precise, practical advice
