Service Care Legal are recruiting for a London Borough Council, who are seeking a Commercial Litigation Lawyer to join their team on a contract basis.

ROLE:
Commercial Litigation Lawyer


LOCATION:
London


RATE:
£16.00 to £19.00 per hour

CONTRACT: 36 hours per week, initial 3 months, potentially ongoing

Please note that this position is hybrid working (4 days working from home, 1 day in the office)


The Role

  • To manage a full caseload and provide legal advice for Debt Collection for a wide range of debts across the Council
  • Departments to provide support for will include Adult Social Care, Housing Benefit Over Payments, Council Tax Arrears, Sundry Debts and Commercial Litigation
  • Take a proactive approach to the recovery of debt and approach the role robustly
  • Personally conduct litigation on behalf of the Council up to and including trial and to instruct counsel as appropriate

The Person

  • A qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive or Barrister with a minimum of 2 years' PQE
  • Full caseload management of Debt Collection/Recovery matters would be essential for this position
  • Previous public sector working experience would be highly desirable for this position
  • Further knowledge of enforcement, the Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act 1983 and Mental Capacity Act 2005 would be desirable
