    Job summary

    An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic,committed, and experienced Sexual Health Nurse to provide a high-level qualityservice to the people of Worcestershire working 30 hours per week.

    It is essential for the individual to haveknowledge, clinical ability, and experience of working within sexual health andcontraception services. You will be expected to undertake integratedclinics offering assessment, and providing treatments or contraceptionincluding implants and coils to those who need them. Holding a non-medical prescribingqualification is desirable.

    You will be responsible for managing and leadingthe admin and nursing team and will need to have a background at senior levelin nursing. The post holder will work closely with the medical team and will bean active part of the Senior Management small part of this role includes the management of the vasectomy service; adedicated team also supported by a medical lead.

    Main duties of the job

    As a service we deliver an integrated GU/contraception model and operate Monday to Saturday with a typical week involving working in our walk-in/booked sessions at our hubs.

    As part of this role, you will be line managing a sexual health team and be involved in delivering support and training for staff, therefore previous management experience is essential. You will lead the delivery of Level 3 GUM and contraception nursing services in the hub and also be the lead for the Worcestershire Vasectomy Service.

    You will have good leadership skills and a proven track record for delivering excellent patient focused care in contraception and GUM; some experience of HIV care would also be beneficial.

    The post holder will join the team at an exciting time as the service has been awarded a 7-year contract. Therefore, the successful candidate will play a vital role in providing and shaping the future delivery of the service.

    The post holder will be based at Aconbury North in Worcester, our largest hub. The successful candidate will need to be flexible and should be able to travel across the County to occasionally provide cover when needed.

    Job responsibilities

  • Be responsible forday-to-day operational management of a Sexual Health locality and spoke(s),recruitment and retention of staff and staff development and training.
  • Play a key role inimplementation of national strategies and targets.
  • Attend monthly SexualHealth Service senior manager meetings.
  • Ensure that staff haveaccess to regular clinical supervision.
  • Be a source of adviceand expertise on Sexual Health issues to all staff within the service.
  • Promote good practiceand effective communication within the Trust, and represent the Sexual HealthService with other agencies, on all matters relating to the safeguarding ofchildren and, in conjunction with relevant WHCT colleagues, ensure that issuesrelating to information-sharing and confidentiality are addressed.
  • Be responsible foron-going development of nurse-led services in sexual health to include trainingand support of nurses to use Patient Group Directions (PGDs). Support independent nurse practice.
  • Provide expert nursingcare, encompassing contraceptive care and the assessment, diagnosis andtreatment for patients with sexually acquired infected (SAIs), HIV and othergenital conditions. Care of patientswith associated sexual health problems.
  • Be responsible for managing nursing team(s);this includes recognising / changing the clinical services in response to localneed and national targets / policies.Proactively work towards 48 hour access target and othernational targets andstrategies.
