London (Hybrid Working)
Fixed Term Contract - 9 Months

Grade 4

Positioned within the commercial team, you will be right in the centre of a fast-paced team, working hand in hand with the go to market team, building strong relationships with our supplier partners.

As a Category Buyer, you will be accountable for all supplier negotiations in line with the category strategy.

You will select and negotiate product ranges and pricing, all terms and conditions, and all investments in our business and its activity.

You are accountable for ensuring cost pricing allows us to remain competitive for customers while maximising EBIT return and securing adequate differentiation against competitors.

You will need to have great relationship building skills, working closely with our supplier partners and internal business areas and use your influencing skills to secure support to drive the business forward.

You will have the responsibility to develop and manage an Assistant Buyer line report, with a key focus on their growth within the business, understanding of our ways of working alongside sustainable wellness.

This role is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is a keen problem-solver with an eye for detail and strong commercial acumen.

Key responsibilities:

Ensure that the category is always striving for a market leading range
Establish credible relationships with suppliers to ensure the best cost, best supply and best delivery for our customers
Be aware of the marketplace activity and innovations, and using this information to ensure that the category is performing
Work collaboratively with the merchandising team to ensure all metrics are hit across sales and stock
Contribute to projects within the Commercial team and the wider Currys Group
Lead and develop 1 Assistant Buyer

You will need:

Experience at Buyer level with knowledge and experience of: Supplier negotiation, Supplier relationship management
Good judgment and strong decisionmaking skills to enable the right actions for the category
Good commercial awareness and appreciation of customer needs
Good working knowledge of MS Office, in particular Excel
