    If so, we have an opportunity as a Senior Solution Architect, where you'll be able to bring your expertise to support evolution and technical debt reduction for our re-platformed legacy benefit payment services.

    You�ll be joining a small team of solution architects for the Digital Benefit Payment Systems (BPS) team.

    Together with other solution architects, engineers and delivery teams, you'll collaborate to design and develop DWP products, services and solutions to simplify operation.

    Job description

    BPS are responsible for core services covering customers across DWP, including pension benefits, working age benefits and disability benefits. These services have recently been remediated from a Cobol VME platform to modernised infrastructure supporting MicroFocus Cobol based applications on a Linux Platform.

    As a Solution Architect, you will:

  • Provide architecture advice to BPS product delivery teams
  • Advocate and support delivery of solutions that reduce architecture complexity and reduce technical debt. Conduct PoCs to explore and assure solution options
  • Exploit the new tooling, capabilities, and technical options that the re-platformed infrastructure provides through APIs
  • Drive out the migration path for data held within the re-platformed services aligning to the product roadmap.
  • Responsibilities

    Your roles and responsibilities for this role include, but are not restricted to the following:

  • Deliver the technical and architecture design elements of services
  • Work with engineering teams, and other Digital stakeholders, to create VFM solution designs
  • Ensure technical quality and adherence of solution designs to the DWP Digital Blueprint, Enterprise Architecture and Product Roadmaps
  • Identify, capture, share, iterate, and implement architecture patterns
  • Drive resolution of technical debt, to reduce the ongoing cost of DWP IT services
  • Develop product roadmaps and represent product designs at DWP governance forums, providing clear communication of architecture design and decision making, in order to gain approval to proceed with designs.

    This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account.     Salary Information

    Pay for this role is from �52,412 to �70,000.

    The maximum salary for the grade is �63,517, however a Digital Allowance of up to �6,483 per annum is available for exceptional candidates, based on our assessment of your skills and experience.

    Our offer to successful candidates will be based on an assessment of your skills and experience as demonstrated at interview.

    Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer should maintain their current salary.

    Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion may move to the bottom of the next grade pay scale or 10% increase in salary whichever would be the greater.

    Location
