    An amazing position is available for a qualified Radiography Assistant Practitioner You will support the plain film service based at Royal Preston Hospital although there will be some requirement to work at other Trust sites.

    You will be working as a Radiographic Assistant Practitioner under IR(ME)R to produce high quality plain film images to aid in the diagnosis of patients conditions. Including working alongside radiographic practitioners in ED, fracture clinic, main x-ray and chest clinic.

    There will be an expectation to work evenings and weekends and to gain accreditation with the Society of Radiographers

    Main duties of the job

    As an integral member of the x-ray department, you will consistently uphold rigorous standards of patient care. Your responsibilities include aiding radiographers in acquiring diagnostic-quality x-rays, as well as providing assistance in patient chaperoning and changing procedures.

    You will adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) while continuously maintaining your competency. You will collaborate closely with radiography practitioners to ensure the provision of a seamless 24-hour service, contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of our department's operations.

    Duties to include but not be limited to:

  • Undertake a defined range of routine diagnostic examinations.
  • Provide good quality personalised care in accordance with agreed local and national standards.
  • Undertake duties relevant to the clinical area following achievement of competencies.
  • Assist to maintain patient safety, confirming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Assist in maintaining standards of care to improve the patient experience and outcome of care.
  • Promote equality in care and practice by recognising, respecting and meeting the needs and choices of individuals.
  • Contribute to maintaining safe, clean and productive environments, compliant with standards for hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Actively try to resolve issues and complaints at local level and then report the outcome to line manager.
  • Maintain and develop own competence.

    Qualifications and Education

    Essential

  • GCSE in English and Mathematics - grade C or above
  • Experience working as an Assistant Practitioner in Radiography
  • Assistant Healthcare Practitioner Apprenticeship Qualification (Or Equivalent)
  • Desirable

  • Basic IT skills
  • Level 2 numeracy
  • SoR Accreditation
  • Knowledge and Experience

    Essential

  • Previous experience working in an acute healthcare setting
  • Able to demonstrate Health & Safety awareness
  • Aware of the concept and application of confidentiality
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the role of a band 4 assistant practitioner
  • Desirable

  • Knowledge of x-ray equipment and uses
  • IR(ME)R Awareness
