About the role

As the Senior Resilience Specialist you will be part of a small team working with internal and external stakeholders to provide oversight that ensures the policies, procedures, and processes, covering all aspects of business continuity and emergency preparedness, enable Cadent to safely discharge its legislative obligations.


  • Your key accountabilities will include:
  • Develop, manage, and maintain a suite of policies, procedures and associated documentation which enables Cadent to fulfil its statutory, licence, and regulatory obligations with regards to business continuity and emergency preparedness.
  • Help build relationships with key national bodies and opinion formers, to influence and represent Cadent's interest (Local Residence Forums, Police, Emergency Planning College, etc).
  • Lead, develop and recommend improvements to business continuity management processes to improve organisational resilience across all business functions.
  • Be a key stakeholder in the Business Continuity Working Group, offering expert advice and guidance.
  • Lead on the development and maintenance of the Crisis Incident Management Framework, ensuring best possible product for Cadent.
  • Develop a crisis management training plan for Gold, Silver, and Bronze.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of Cadent's Gas Transmission Safety case.
  • Respond to changing business needs by adapting policies, procedures, and work methods and work with the supported area of the business to implement/deliver and monitor identified projects and programmes relating to safety and sustainability.

About you

  • Experience of working in a regulated utility sector.
  • Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problemsolving environment, demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and excellence.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate articulately across all levels of the business.
  • Passionate about safety, health, wellbeing, security and resilience, with high levels of enthusiasm and drive to achieve results.
  • Resilience with the confidence and courage to challenge behaviours and issues, leading by example across all business functions.
  • Ability to think of innovative new ways in which to engage the business in resilience issues.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and legislation, the risk assessment process, Local Residence Forums and Government procedure around resilience and planning, design, and records processes
  • Working experience of strategic development through to implementation.
  • Demonstrable ability to assimilate and develop understanding of engineering policies and procedures and requirements.
