D8 is a 28 bedded ward and we care for a variety of patients with spinal injuries. We are a fast paced ward, accepting patients from across the East Midlands.

NUH is a major trauma centre; we accept a variety of patients with conditions such as spinal trauma, fractures, cord injury and cancers.


You can expect to have a period of supervisory practice and induction, with the opportunity to work alongside our MDT.

You will gain knowledge around spinal nursing and development opportunities

You should have excellent interpersonal & communication skills, a passion for the delivery of high quality, compassionate care, and be able to demonstrate the ability to help change and motivate others.


You will have the responsibility of caring for group of patients with complex needs along side the registered nurse for support and advice.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential to build on the networks required for the role.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities


The overriding purpose is to support the provision of the highest quality patient/client care through personal actions and continuous improvement.


The post holder will support the Registered Nurse in ensuring the delivery of high quality patient/client care upholding dignity, delivered with kindness and compassion.

Provide and monitor the nursing care for a designated group of patients/clients during a care episode. Actively contribute to an effective learning environment and support others in their learning.

The post holder will promote a team nursing philosophy of care

Qualifications:

Essential criteria

  • Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register
  • Educated to a minimum level
  • Foundation degree level specific to Nursing Associate practice
Experience

Essential criteria

  • Understand the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in the context of the team and the organisation, and how the role contributes to service development
Desirable criteria

  • Work within Spinal or Surgical Speciality
Physical Skills

Essential criteria

  • Able to manoeuvre equipment in line with trust policies and procedures
  • Capable of using equipment within a work environment under supervision

Salary:
The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
