    Brief Description

    This role provides an engaging and challenging opportunity in the Capital Delivery Eastern – Risk & Value Team. Providing specialist Risk & Value Management support and assurance to projects and programmes, supporting the Capital Delivery Eastern operating model.

    This is an exciting time to join Capital Delivery Eastern as we continue to progress with our Agile Client model. The Risk & Value team plays a key role producing quantitative cost and schedule risk analysis to establish confidence of project affordability. Supporting our focus on efficient delivery for our customers.

    About the role (External)

    The right candidate will need to be motivated and a self-starter. Possessing good project and business risk management facilitation abilities, ability to build complicated cost, schedule and business risk models in a number of applications. Provide specialist Risk & Value Management assurance and support service to project and programme teams and the Management Team. Be able to work collaboratively with the direct team and other departments.

    Key Accountabilities

  • Provide direction and guidance in the concept of Risk & Value management (R&VM, maintaining or monitoring their appropriate and effective application to all stages of the project lifecycle as aligned to ACE principles to establish and maintain compliance with standards and good risk management practice.
  • Actively promote via support to teams, training, briefings etc R&VM culture, maturity, competency and embedment of Enterprise Risk Management in support of delivery projects.
  • Establish with Project teams their R&VM needs consistent with R&V standards and CDE guidance. Direct &/or deliver specialist R&VM support services as dictated by the R&VM maturity of the project community.
  • Produce quantitative cost and schedule risk analyses to establish confidence of project affordability and deliverability.
  • Produce possession QSRA analyses to establish confidence of right time handback of possessions and deliverability of desired types/volumes of work within possession access.
  • Deliver risk identification, review workshops with project teams supporting the risk management process.
  • Implement Level 1 and 2 assurance activities as specified by the Principal R&V Manager to support project delivery. Monitor the outputs of others who undertake R&VM activities to maintain and improve competence, consistency and compliance with Network Rail procedures via direct supervision and assurance processes.
  • Produce value management studies linked to creating value in projects.
  • Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications

    Essential

  • Demonstrable competence in all aspects of project and business risk management facilitation
  • Demonstrable ability to build complicated cost, schedule and business risk models in a number of applications.
  • Recognised either technically or professionally as an R&V expert.
  • Demonstrable commercial focus and financially astute understanding of the implications of different contract types on risk position.
  • Recognised professional qualification in Risk Management e.g. Management of Risk (MoR), IRM Certificate/Diploma etc
  • Demonstrable skills in initiating and building positive working relationships with customers, their team, and stakeholders.
  • Desirable

  • Demonstrable knowledge of the PACE Framework.
  • Membership of the Institute of Risk Management
  • Membership of the Association for Project Management Risk Practitioner
  • Membership of the Institute of Value Management.
