    Job Opportunity:


    Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for a graduate to join our European Actuarial Reporting team with exposure to all areas of General Insurance actuarial work.


    The Actuarial Reporting team provides actuarial services to Berkshire Hathaway International Insurance Limited (BHIIL) and Berkshire Hathaway European Insurance DAC (BHEI) –representing Berkshire Hathaway's European insurance operations.

    It is a small and highly efficient team with opportunities to access a wide range of business functions and business lines.


    The Actuarial Assistant will report into the Chief Actuary of BHIIL based in the London office, providing significant exposure to Executive Management.

    We are looking for an individual who has both an ability to excel and an excellence of character.

    This position will be based in our London office. The tasks and responsibilities will grow in line with the maturity of the business and the candidate's profile.


    Duties & Responsibilities:
    Supporting and undertaking the production of financial and regulatory reports, covering both GAAP and Solvency II, and both reserves and capital
    Assisting in the production of and enhancement to management information
    Supporting reserving analyses into a wide range of business lines
    Assisting in the production of the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment, including sensitivity, stress and scenario testing
    Supporting the business planning process, including capital projections
    Working with Claims, Underwriting and Pricing teams to enhance Actuarial Reporting output
    Developing and maintaining data quality and documentation across actuarial work
    Continually improving the efficiency, accuracy and transparency of existing processes and implementation of new techniques
    Research and implementation of new techniques


    Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
    Aspiration to become a qualified actuary
    A degree in a technical/mathematical subject with a minimum grade (predicted or achieved) of 2:1
    At least an A in Maths A-level
    Ability to learn new technical skills, including desire to learn coding
    Solid oral and written communication skills in English
    Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
    Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
    Strong desire to learn from and share knowledge with teammates
