    Consultant Psychiatrist - Psychotherapy, Preston (10PA)


    • We are seeking a Consultant Medical Psychotherapist trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy to join the current full time Medical Psychotherapist within the Psychotherapy Service currently based at West Strand House in Preston.
    You would be expected to participate on the Consultant On Call rota, for which additional remuneration would be payable.

    The post holder will be based in Preston in the short-term but will explore options for developing a 'hub and spoke' model for providing psychotherapy Trust wide.

    The post holder will work with the current medical psychotherapist to promote the service in other parts of the Trust, including bringing psychodynamic ideas into other settings.

    The future objective is to make the psychotherapy service more visible and accessible across the Trust.


    There is current ongoing work within the Trust in developing PD pathways and there is a possibility for the post holder to be involved in shaping this as well as providing psychological interventions, for example MBT, including formulations for patients with personality disorders.

    Remuneration will be as set out in the terms of the New Consultant Contract according to previous experience.

    5 SPAs as standard for a full time post (we would be flexible in looking at enhancements to support other activities that support the wider ambitions of the Trust).

    Study leave budget of 3000 over 3 years or up to 5000 over 3 years for newly qualified Consultants
    Relocation package available.
