    Band 2 Receptionist (CAT 2 Orthoptics/Ophthalmology) .

    The post will include working shifts between 8am and 8pm and weekend working.

    Main duties of the job

    Duties include welcoming patients into the departments, preparing patient files for clinic appointments, being the first point of call for patients attending Clinic or Eye Casualty and arranging follow-up appointments for patients before they leave the ideal candidate will have strong customer service skills and be willing to multi-task under challenging and busy conditions.

    Job responsibilities

    You should have the ability to perform complex administrative functions and will be responsible for receiving patients and visitors attending outpatient clinics taking ownership of escalated administrative issues where appropriate.

    The receptionist works in close partnership with medical, nursing and secretarial staff to ensure the smooth running of the outpatients department.

  • GCSE (or equivalent) or above in English Language and Maths
  • Knowledge of Microsoft packages
  • Experience

  • Reception experience within a customer service setting
  • Call centre experience
  • Experience within an NHS administrative environment
