An opportunity has arisen for experienced Speech and Language Therapists to join the Sheffield Speech and Language Therapy Service working within the acute ward teams and up to two days a week as part of the community SLT team.

The post is for 30 hours per week and is a permanent position.


The successful post holder will provide clinical Speech & Language Therapy to a defined specialised caseload as part of the SLT team.


To provide clinical speech and language therapy services to a defined specialised caseload of adult patients as part of the acute ward SLT team.

To specialise in the assessment and management of communication disorders and dysphagia.

The SLT service across both the acute and community teams in STH has approximately 55 staff (47 therapists, 7 assistants and 4 secretarial staff wte).

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The postholder will meet the criteria outlined in the person specification.

To demonstrate specialist knowledge in clinical specialisms underpinned by current evidence based practice.

To use specialist knowledge to inform sound clinical judgements/decision making for case management.

To make a differential diagnosis on client's communication/swallowing on the basis of evidence from assessment seeking advice as appropriate.

To develop clear care plans based on best practice.
