Description

As part of a Community Transformation programme, we are working to improve care pathways for those with Complex Emotional Needs (CEN) and Personality Disorder (PD) in East Sussex.

We have secured funding to recruit a band 4 peer specialist with High Weald, Lewes and Havens ATS.

We can offer this as a band 3 developmental role into band 4 if the experience is not yet seen to fulfil the criteria needed.

You will use your skills and lived experience to improve service user experience, promote an understanding of CEN and PD, empower service users to be proactive in their recovery, enhance clinical interventions by providing a unique service user perspective and help bridge the gap between clinicians and service users, secondary and primary care.

It is not essential to be a car driver but there will be an element of travel required and there are rural areas to the geographical area covered.

Currently, interventions are being offered both online and face to face.

  • To support the engagement of service users, bridge services and work across services to facilitate transitions (e.g. step down from secondary to primary)
  • Psychoeducation around diagnosis within an atmosphere of hope and optimism and role modelling of recovery
  • Provide specialist skills in recovery focused practices and support people to plan their own recovery
  • To help establish a culture of shared decision making and work with service users to explore and make informed decisions about treatment options.
  • To draw on their own lived experience of mental health problems and keep hopes & aspirations and life beyond illness alive.
  • To cofacilitate CEN & PD specific groups and courses i.e. STEPPS, Stairways, SUN Model, Carers group.
  • Opportunities to contribute to CEN & PD specific training events

Although your role will initially be within the ATS, it is envisaged that going forward, we will improve and develop our offer of interventions for people with CEN and PD in primary care.

In the future, you may find yourself increasingly working across services, supporting transitions and contributing to primary care initiatives.

We take the wellbeing of our staff seriously and want to ensure that you are well supported in this role.

Induction and training will be provided as well as regular high quality supervision.

We're a large NHS Mental Health Trust in South East England.

We're looking for people to help us provide high quality services for the patients, carers and local communities we serve.

We want patients and staff to recommend our organisation as a place where they would be happy for their friends and family to be treated.

You can help us do this by bringing your skills, experience and commitment to Sussex Partnership.
