About this Role:


We are looking for a Site Caretaker to support a large residential development based in Newbury, by maintaining a first-class environment both externally and for the common parts.

You will be responsible for the upkeep of the communal areas, as well as reporting any repairs or maintenance to your Property Manager at Remus Management who have an office on site.


Some Responsibilities and Goals you'll own:

  • Litter Pick all areas
  • Car park clear leaves and cobwebs from under croft and exterior car park
  • Clean Louvres, gates doors & light fittings externally
  • Bin Stores checked daily and cleared / cardboard put in to bins etc.
  • Change light bulbs in lifts, and wall lights
  • Assist Remus with weekly fire alarm tests and monthly light flick tests
  • Fill all salt bins with water softener tablets every 2 weeks (6 Salt Bins)
  • Accept salt deliveries
  • Water trees and plants on whole estate if needed
  • Report any want of repair to Remus
  • Put up and take down lift curtains when required
  • Open Service cupboards for Utility Companies ETC.
  • Minor repairs to knee rails and signage as required
  • Test all gates and service locks/oil
  • Deliver mailshots or leaflets as required
  • Water any internal plants
  • Inspect hallways for items and report
  • Inspect under croft bays and report and unauthorised storage.
  • Inspect carparks for abandoned cars and report
  • Repair any cracks or holes in paintwork if needed.
  • Remove any abandoned bikes or items in and around the blocks.
  • Any other jobs that a caretaker would be reasonably be expected to carry out as directed from Remus office.

Must Have Skills:


  • High level of customer service. High standards of professionalism are required when dealing with residents, contractors, and visitors.
  • Good telephone manner and customer service skills.
  • High attention to detail and a pride in their work.
  • Must be organised and willing be able to prioritise.
  • A flexible, adaptable, and organised approach to work, exercising initiative and working independently as appropriate.
  • Ability to learn quickly and a team player.
  • Willingness to undertake continuous training and personal development.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent record keeping skills, both electronically and for hard copies.
