Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring ShareAction is an exceptional employer that attracts, develops and retains diverse talent.

The COO's team proactively provide useful tools, information and support to staff in the UK and Belgium. The team are expert problem solvers, using our skills and experience to enhance ShareAction's impact.


Position


The Head of People is the most senior HR specialist in ShareAction, leading the People team in an exciting time of growth to ensure that the charity offers an exceptional working experience to all of our staff.

You will fulfil a comprehensive strategic and operational brief, embedding collaborative ways of working across teams and directorates.

Key to achieving this will be developing and maintaining effective working relationships across the organisation to ensure that all aspects of HR and staff well-being reflect ShareAction's values and are delivered to the highest standards.


What you'll do:


  • You will lead the implementation of ShareAction's People strategy, developing the strategy where necessary and ensuring it meets organisational priorities, delivering an exceptional working experience to all staff
  • You will develop and motivate a team of HR professionals, ensuring that the daytoday HR needs of the organisation are met
  • You will keep up to date with new developments, best practice and relevant changes in employment laws in the UK and Belgium
  • You will develop and maintain a strong working relationship with colleagues, including the recognised Union. Ensure meaningful consultation and negotiation on staff matters in line with the Union agreement
  • You will work with the COO to lead on preparing papers for and presenting at ShareAction's HR and Remuneration Committee, a subcommittee of the board
  • You will provide regular advice, guidance, and where necessary challenge to the Leadership Team and other colleagues, being aware of potential operational issues, trends and challenges that will impact staff at ShareAction
  • You will be accountable for the financial performance of the People function and management of key risks relating to HR, including legal risks
  • You will contribute to ShareAction's DEI working group, ensuring that all HR aspects of the DEI policy are delivered
  • Leading by example, you will ensure that the People team are a visible presence for all staff both facetoface and remotely

Requirements:


What you'll bring to the team:

  • This role oversees all areas of HR and you will have experience of working in or overseeing these different aspects
  • You will have experience of line management and coaching those around you, delivering through others and creating opportunities to learn and grow
  • You will be able to build relationships for influence, helping colleagues who are more senior and more junior to navigate the challenges of change and growth
  • Naturally collaborative and flexible, you will be able to use your professional experience to identify options, include others in agreeing solutions and the persistence to embed new ways of working
  • You will be a strong team player with the ability to contribute professional challenge, create opportunities for others and deliver through colleagues, both within the team and beyond
  • You will be comfortable working and delivering change at pace, with the ability to prioritise and oversee multiple projects at once
  • You will have strong communication skills. Confident presenting and interpreting information using various mediums, and adapting to suit different audiences.

It would also be great - but not essential - if you have:

  • CIPD level
  • 7 accreditation or equivalent experience
  • Experience of managing a workforce spread across multiple jurisdictions. In particular experience of Belgian employment law and conditions would be a plus
  • Experience of working with Microsoft suite 365
